B4C ceramic has the most excellent protective performance and is in line with the development direction of lightweight equipment. It is the most ideal bulletproof ceramic material. It is mainly used for the processing of high-end bulletproof inserts, especially the integrated multi-curved B4C ceramic bulletproof inserts, which shows the highest level of equipment in the field. B4C ceramics have the lowest density value, relatively high modulus and Vickers hardness, and the best comprehensive performance, but the single-phase B4C ceramics have very low fracture toughness (KRICR<2.2 MPa·m1/2). At present, it is widely used in the sintering process of B4C ceramics, TiB2 is introduced to form B4C+TiB2 composite ceramics to increase fracture toughness. B4C+TiB2 composite ceramics can continue to maintain the high hardness properties and low density of B4C, and the fracture toughness can reach 5.4MPa·m1/2. The addition of TiB2 can also reduce the resistivity of the complex phase ceramics, meet the requirements of EDM, and reduce the machining cost.
Application areas: Individual soldier body armor plate, armored helicopter web, heavy tank bulletproof module armor, etc.
